Malcolm saw this as he walked towards Gavril to warn him. He quickly drew his blaster, loading Avalanche in one of the barrels. He fired off a shot to construct an ice wall between Blakks goons and Gavril. "Hey, if you two wanna fight, fight me instead of kicking a guy while he's down!"
"Stay out of this, punk! This has nothing to do with you! " "If you two work for Blakk, then it has plenty to do with me. Although, it doesn't look like you guys could beat me in a fistfight." "What'd you say, you little brat?!" "You heard me, or are you as deaf as you are ugly?" The thugs charged toward Malcolm, fists bared, but Malcolm quickly grabbed the first thugs arm, positioning himself behind the goon, keeping his arm behind his back. Malcolm then pushed the thug onto the ground, still holding the thugs arm. With a quick twist, Malcolm bent the thugs arm backwards, fracturing the bones in the thugs elbow. Before the second thug could act, Malcolm had already grabbed the thugs arm, but instead of bringing it behind the thugs back, he threw the thug onto the ground, dislocating the goons shoulder. Malcolm walked towards Gavril, saying "Can you get up? You need to get out of here quick, before more of them arrive." Malcolm took the key from his pocket, saying " Take this key and use for room 405 in the purple motel with a blue door. A friend of mine'll meet you there soon. And if she asks where I am, tell her I have something to take care of and will be there in a little while. Remember, room 405 of the purple motel with a blue door." After repeating himself, Malcolm ran off towards the outskirts of town. He was determined to keep his promise to fully liberate the slugs he had freed.

Cal slid behind one of the rocks that were in the arena for the purpose of being used as shielding or advantage points. Currently, she was using it for a shield while she sorted through her remaining slugs, and while her others returned to her. The slinger she was against was still firing off ghouls. The ginger made sure all her slugs were safely in their canisters before realizing they were all tired. Damn, she couldn't sling them- Dopey.
Cal looked nervously at the Enigmo, who looked up and smiled at her, nodding as he chirped at her. She had no doubt he was a strong slug, it was just she was afraid someone would try and snatch him up. But, she didn't have a choice, she was out of slugs. Loading the rare vertical eyed slug into her blaster, she told her friend, "Wrap this up for me, Dope. We gotta go save the alley-boy. Y'liked him, 'member?"
And with that, Cal climbed onto the top of the rock before jumping down, firing Dopey at the large man, and watching as he was hit, thrown into the natural wall of the sunken arena, and grasped around as he vision was scarmbled. She smirked, walking over and collecting Dopey from the ground before telling the slinger, "It'll wear off in an hour or so, just get a borgberry smoothie and take a nap."
The slinger just groaned as she knelt down and asked the two slugs he had left that weren't ghouled, "Hey, which-"
"Take em both, they're worthless, regular old slugs." Cal felt her temper rise as she held her hand out, letting the Hypnogriff slug and the- holy. crud. Cal slipped the slugs into canisters before spitting out at the slinger on the floor, "Yet regular slugs kicked your ghouls' butts. Funny world isn't it?"
Cal hurried out of the arena, staring at the slugs she had just acquired in awe. Hypnogriff and a BOON DOC. Holy guacamole. Smiling at them, she murmured, "it'll be okay guys. You're safe now." The little guys perked up a bit and Cal hurried off towards the motel, pausing in the lobby to put the new slugs away before running up to her room, hoping that the boy was there with Malcolm.

Gavril watched as some kid took out the two guys that were after him. What did he even think he was doing? Helping some good citizen that needed help? Gavril was neither of those, thank you very much. Well, maybe he did need a little help, but he could have managed without it! Besides, no one else would have bothered to help him, they all just turned a blind eye to his plight and continued on. But that was to be expected because people didn't want to get involved in things that could potentially get them in trouble. Gavril then became aware of the pain eminating from his head and knees. He felt something warm and sticky running down his forehead and left cheek and quickly deducted it to be blood. There didn't seem to be too much of it so Gavril decided he'd take care of it later instead of right that moment. He figured his knees would make walking a painful, but there wasn't much he could do about that. He doubted that it was anything serious, just a soreness that would last for a little bit.
While the boy continued fighting, the polero popped back into its protoform and Gavril scooped it up. He scrambled to catch it when it tried to hop out of his cupped hands and tried to coax it into staying. "Hey, little buddy," Gavril said, his voice just above a whisper as he quickly caught the slug before it could land on the ground. He felt his knuckles scrape the dirt and he pulled the bicolored creature up farther from the ground. "I know you don't know me, and that your owner doesn't like me, but I can get you out of there. He isn't a good person and you deserve better." Okay, so maybe that was a complete lie. Gavril didn't know what kind of person the rich man was, and maybe Gavril survived using unethical means, and maybe the slug's life would be worse. But hey, he could use a slug like this one and this would be easier than winning, finding, or buying one. Besides, the polero was listening now so (with the power of his persuasive words) it was basically his.
"So why don't you come with me?" Gavril continued, "You won't have any chance of being ghouled and you'll have a bunch of cool friends and be appreciated." As if they were cued, Gavril's slugs poked their heads out and chirped in agreement. At least now Gavril knew he was doing something right. At the slug's conflicted look he added, "It's your choice. I'm not going to force you to do anything." That was true. If he just decided to take the polero without it wanting to come it wouldn't listen, or even just return to the rich man on its own, and that was just stupid.
With that Gavril reached blindly behind him for his hat. When he felt that material he curled his fingers around the brim and pulled it back to him. Plopping the article onto his head, Gavril looked up to see the boy standing in front of him. He acted on reflex when an object was tossed to him. Small, had luster, he wasn't exactly sure what it was yet. Opening his hand, Gavril saw that it was a key. He gave the boy a puzzled look as he talked about what to do. Why would anyone care about what happened to him? Sure his family would be worried, but he had never met this guy before and he had just given him the key to a motel room. Who could afford to be that trusting nowadays?
"I can walk. I'm fine," Gavril answered, watching the boy warily. He ran his thumb over the teeth of the key, feeling the ridges in the tiny piece of metal. He probably could have just picked the lock if he had to. Before he could even stand, Gavril noticed that the boy was gone, off to do whatever it was that he was doing. He was about to get up when he heard a slight chirp come from beside him. He glanced over to see the polero. It had a smile on its face and was waving its little arms.
"Looks like someone made up their mind," he said, a subtle smile marking his features, "Come on." Holding out his hand, the slug jumped onto his palm, its tiny feet tickling it slightly. He held it up the pocket where Beacon resided and he hopped in. Sure pockets weren't exactly the traditional place to put slugs, but he didn't exactly want to go around advertising that he was a slugslinger. That's why he didn't keep his blasters- Oh shoot his blaster!
Scrambling to his feet (though he knees screamed in protest) he rushed to pick up his blaster. Letting out a breath he wasn't even aware he was holding, Gavril couldn't believe ho lucky he was. His blaster was still there. Hastily picking it up, he put it back into his pack and started looking for the motel that the belonged to. It wasn't that hard to spot. The vibrant purple of the motel drew the eye to it while the dark blue stood out like an oasis in a desert. He stopped at the door to the motel for a second o pull his hat over his race. There was no need to draw any more attention to himself. He pushed the door open and walked inside with a calm demeanor despite his stomach doing backflips inside of him.
As he entered he knew people would stare, they always did when someone new arrived. Some gazes lasted longer than others and Gavril just hoped that no one would try to talk to him. He headed over to the stairs and gripped the railing tightly and the steel was cool against his sweaty palm. His knees ached as he made his way up the stairs but it was just that, an ache. It didn't take long for him to find the room once he was on the right floor. He shoved the key into the lock and pushed the door open with his shoulder.
Immediately Gavril went to the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror. Half of his face was fairly bloody and if he squinted he could see where the little pieces of gravel smashed into his face. Gavril then wet a washcloth and ran it under the sink. He savored the warmth for a moment before he began to wash his face and just held the washcloth the to staunch the bleeding.
Ooc: I was able to make on today after all. So here is my reply!

As Malcolm reached the outskirts of the cavern, he emptied out the bag he had slung across his back, keeping his word and freeing the slugs previously held captive by Dr. Blakk. He could tell the slugs were trying to thank him as they ran off, waving back,to the human who saved them from becoming Ghouls. Malcolm closed the bag and threw it across his back, walking towards the cavern.
As he returned, he made his way to the motel that Cal had previously described, feeling tired after the long walk to and from where he freed the slugs. As he entered the lobby, he went up to the room Cal was staying in after pausing in the lobby to check the time. When he got up the stairs, he saw Cal walking towards her room. He caught up to her, saying "Hey, how'd your match go? And before you say anything, I gave the key to that guy you wanted me to keep an eye on, but I had to take care of something before I got here."

Cal smiled as Malcolm fell into step beside her. Ah, she knew she liked his guy, first thing he did was tell her the truth. And she liked that in anyone. Truth just made things easier, well, most the time. Chuckling, Cal replied easily, "I won, and the idiot was dumb enough to give me these two." The ginger opened up her hand to reveal the Hypnogiff, who was already sleeping, and the BoonDoc slug who was hiding a bit behind his fellow slug, nervous. Immediately, Cal's heart hurt for the little dude. She knew that more often than not, people didn't realize that a BoonDoc was a BoonDoc, and treated them like flopper's who just wouldn't go away and seemed to be able to transform at 100MPH. Cal would bet her mecha that the slinger who had had the rare slug before her hadn't treated the little fella all to nicely.
Rolling her shoulder, Cal kept an easy smile on her face and assured Malcolm, "No worried, whatever you gotta do, you gotta do. I appreciate the favor, though. You really helped me out, and I owe you one, Malcolm."
As she reached her room, the ginger pulled the key out and unlocked the door, nodding ehr head in a silent invation for Malcolm to come in. Immediately, her slugs were hopping onto the bed, her slugs wanting to get to know their newest companions.

Malcolm was speechless as Cal showed him the slugs she had won. He had never, not once in all his life seen a Boon Doc up close before. "Is that what I think it is?! I thought there was only one in all of SlugTerra!" He stepped inside the hotel room just as Cal got through the door and closed it behind him. "Fate's definitely on your side, Ms. Simms. What are you going to name him?"

Gavril carefully watched as two people entered the room. Lighthearted, friendly with each other, and not at all wary of the situation. How were they okay with him being here? They weren't even paying any attention to his presence for crying out loud!
He silently listened to the exchange as the two friendly strangers spoke about the tournament, and quickly became bored with the situation. Letting himself flop back onto the bed, Gavril tuned out what they were saying. Instead, he let his mind wonder. It strayed to the topic of Dmitri, why the two in the room thought they had any reason to trust him, what he should have for lunch, and back to the strangers in the room. Though Gavril supposed that he was the stranger seeing as he was in their room.
"So why did you let me come here anyway?" Gavril asked, interrupting their conversation. Unless they had already ended their chat, and if that was the case Gavril just didn't care enough to notice.
ooc: Sorry I haven't been on a lot lately, school started up again and I have had to get used to the work load.
